i'm watching season 8 now.
from where has Bree money? she don't has any husband, she lost her firm, but she still has money.. so.. from where?
Hello? She sold at least 1 million copies of her cookbook? 15 dollars x 1000000 = 15 000 000 - half of it (for marketing etc.) = 7 500 000 dollars for her own. It s a quite a fortune.
Sometimes we all get confused or a memory slips our mind. I actually don't remember how that worked - she lost her firm - so did she do the cookbook after that?
@Michu1945, unless she self-published, unfortunately the business of selling books isn't quite that simple. Especially if it was a hardcover book.
Publishers sign authors, a lot of people take a cut. The only way $15million went straight to Bree would be if she self-published. But someone would have had to print the books, so that's a hefty chunk of change. So subtract the time & materials that go into printing. Then someone had to get the book in stores, which requires an agent.
I'm skipping a bunch of boring stuff, but the last bit would be taxes. At least half of whatever she made? Uncle Sam took that.
She may have banked a mil, and that's not bad at all. But definitely not $15mil. I know more about the writing & editing end, and putting out an e-book requires almost no overhead. If you sold a million copies of an e-book? Now that would be multi-millionaire territory!
I definitely have some re-watching to do!
That's why I wrote "15 dollars x 1000000 = 15 000 000 - half of it (for marketing etc.) = 7 500 000 dollars for her (...). It s a quite a fortune."
Means half of the fortune is for printing, marketing, shops and agent. Event if 1/3 of that went to her it would be 5 000 000 $ only for her. After taxes (let's estimate... 33 % for country), it is still 3 300 000 only for her.
If she sold 2 mil copies = 6 600 000 only for her. If she sold 3 mil copies = 9 900 000 only for her. It is a lot of money.
Even she lost cooking company, she got all the money from her first and only book for herself.
What do you think?
