Sometimes we all get confused or a memory slips our mind. I actually don't remember how that worked - she lost her firm - so did she do the cookbook after that?
@Michu1945, unless she self-published, unfortunately the business of selling books isn't quite that simple. Especially if it was a hardcover book.
Publishers sign authors, a lot of people take a cut. The only way $15million went straight to Bree would be if she self-published. But someone would have had to print the books, so that's a hefty chunk of change. So subtract the time & materials that go into printing. Then someone had to get the book in stores, which requires an agent.
I'm skipping a bunch of boring stuff, but the last bit would be taxes. At least half of whatever she made? Uncle Sam took that.
She may have banked a mil, and that's not bad at all. But definitely not $15mil. I know more about the writing & editing end, and putting out an e-book requires almost no overhead. If you sold a million copies of an e-book? Now that would be multi-millionaire territory!
I definitely have some re-watching to do!
