"Love is in the Air" is the 14th episode of Desperate Housewives. The episode was the 14th episode for the show's first season. The episode was written by Tom Spezialy and was directed by Jeff Melman. It originally aired on Sunday February 13, 2005.

Plot[]

It's Valentine's Day on Wisteria Lane and all the husbands and boyfriends are planning something special for their other halves.

Lynette[]

When Lynette receives a heartfelt plant from her kids she finds out it was stolen from Mrs. McCluskey's house who is Lynette's archrival. When the boys go over to apologize, they realize that she isn't that bad since she is still grieving over the death of her son who died at a young age.

Bree[]

Rex tries to convince Bree to have S&M style sex which Bree scoffs at.

Gabrielle[]

Gabrielle fires Yao-Lin and gets a job as a model at a mattress depot. After she is fired, she takes a part-time job at a cosmetic store where one of her customers is Yao-Lin.

Susan[]

Susan plans a romantic evening with Mike who is still recovering from a gunshot wound from the afternoon prior. At the restaurant, Susan asks if he is ready to commit which causes Mike to collapse after his wound becomes out of control.

  • The episode was originally titled What I Did for Love which is from the musical, A Chorus Line.
  • Although credited, Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan), John Rowland (Jesse Metcalfe), and Deirdre Taylor (Jolie Jenkins-there is a picture of her in this episode) do not appear in this episode.
  • The episode title Love is in the Air was an opening song written for the Stephen Sondheim musical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. The song was cut in previews and replaced by "Comedy, Tonight".
  • The episode title is from John Paul Young's classic hit Love is in the Air.
  • French Title: L'amour est dans l'air (Love is in the Air)
